Frequently asked questions

Are these templates free?

Yes. Download them with no signup and change them however you like. They are plain CSV files, so they open in Google Sheets, Excel, Numbers and LibreOffice.

Do the formulas work when I open the file?

Yes. The totals and checks are written as formulas, and Google Sheets and Excel work them out when you open the file. Save it in your spreadsheet's own format to keep them.

When should I move from a spreadsheet to inventory software?

When you spend more time updating the sheet than making things, or when it is wrong because you forgot to update it after a batch. Software that takes materials off the shelf when you make a batch keeps the counts right without typing.
